Summary: The previous weeks have seen how the Haitian earthquake has greatly affected
the Haitian nation. Every day, more and more people, children and adults alike, die of malnutrition and cholera
from drinking unsanitary water. Unfortunately, there are no government orphanages and adoption agencies in Haiti at
present, and the only orphanages there are run by humanitarian and religious organizations who have hearts big
enough to help. So open your hearts to adopting from Haiti and make a child’s future shine
brighter.
The previous weeks have seen how the Haitian earthquake has greatly affected the Haitian nation. Not only did it
affect the nation, it also affected the people from all over the world: one good thing that came out of the Haitian
nation is that there were more than enough people who were willing to sacrifice more than their time and money and
stretch out their hand to help Haiti. Fund raisers were thrown by different organizations, and even prominent people did
their part by donating huge sums of money for those who were devastated. But what was most interesting was how
much people were becoming more aware that one of the ways to help is to look to a possibility of
adopting from Haiti.
Haiti is one of the more densely populated but also one of the poorest countries in the world. Strewn with many
wars and government crises from the past – what with the French colonization and the many civil wars that took
place – Haiti is still on her way to getting back on her own two feet. But it is not an easy task for Haiti. Today,
statistics show that an average Haitian just earns $300 a year, or maybe even less. Clean water is very scarce and
we see photographs of thin and small children drinking muddy water from a puddle. Food and nutrition are also very
insufficient that it is said that our pets fare better than the malnourished children in Haiti. Every day, more and
more people, children and adults alike, die of malnutrition and cholera from drinking unsanitary water.
Furthermore, the Haitian’s lack of education prevents them from rising up from their predicaments.
The disaster that came upon Haiti has all the more made it
difficult for the Haitian people to gain their lives back, and this is more difficult for the children.
Infants and children are left orphaned, or separated from their families. This is why adopting from Haiti can
mean a really big help. Unfortunately, there are no government orphanages and adoption agencies in Haiti at
present, and the only orphanages there are run by humanitarian and religious organizations who have hearts big
enough to help. But these organizations will be more than willing to place a child in a happy home where he or
she can experience a life out of poverty. Part of the adoption process will always require for you to travel
to Haiti at least once, and it is a given fact that it is not an easy road to travel. But the hard journey is
worth it after taking a child into your arms.
Due to recent disaster, Haiti is not opening their doors to new adoption applicants and some old adoption
processes are also put on hold. But once the prohibition is lifted, the children will need more help than ever. So
open your hearts to adopting from Haiti and make a child’s future shine brighter.
